Christmas 2010

Christmas came and went all too quick once again. It came with all it's cheer and traditions. We decorated, sang carols, read books, played games, baked goodies, had gatherings, opened presents, and went to a couple of Christmas events along the way. (note to self: do not attend Santa's Village next year or any year after)

We spent Christmas week just us, enjoying being together. We baked cookies, and played games with the girls. We skyped with Joe's parents one evening to open presents with them. For Christmas dinner we tried our hands at 'Fondue'. Joe tried to read a little each night to the girls before we put the to bed, after that Joe and I enjoyed several games of Wii Tetris. It went something like this ...." one more game?" That got us into trouble on Christmas eve. We got a late start assembling toys and ended up going to bed at three in the morning. Not recommended.

Christmas morning we awoke to whispers ..."dad is it time to open presents yet?".... and snow. Lot's of snow. Well, for Alabama anyways. They said it hadn't snowed here on Christmas since 1983. I think. Course, it shut everything down; until after the new year, wouldn't you know. It was hazardous to go out side for frostbite.... (thick with sarcasm) so we were advised by the local weather service to stay indoors and only travel in emergency. I think that was due more to the fact the have no plows here and couldn't even clear a parking lot if they wanted to. O my. We ate breakfast while watching the neighbors attempt to pull into their driveway. After the 8th try he gunned it and ran off the drive into the back yard... southerners...  

This was indeed a very good and blessed Christmas. We have so much to be thankful for. This was the first year spent in our new home here in Alabama. Last year we were surrounded with boxes, and not at all settled. I'm very thankful to be not only in a house, but at home. Let's all cross our fingers and pray it lasts for a good while to come.

P.S. to those who sent Christmas cards and letters, we thank you for thinking of us. We received so many this year, I will have to be sure and send one out next year. We enjoyed reading each one and seeing the pictures of you all. They stayed in a little basket on the end table for us to enjoy and show off the pictures.
